Change

Got ya thinking huh? No, this is not some long commentary on life. It is about bands. And no, this is not about my band Seth Ohm Band (for those who know). This is about Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Only the best independent band on the scene. They have had a few staff changes over the years. Scotty, one of the first guitar players left after their second album was released. Then after the next album, Danny their bass player left, and Nick joined. More recent, Steve (the other guitar player left and they filled his spot with Jim).
Last week, RCPM released a new album, the first with Jim on it. Some fans have said it is the best album since the first. I don't agree. Each one holds it's own. But, one thing for sure is that Jim adds some grit to the ordinarily clean sound that has been RCPM. And I like it. I feel it has helped evolved the writing as well.
So, sometime change is not bad. One thing I am sure that helped is that he has toured with them for over a year (maybe 2) and met the fans. That helped him settle in.
So the best album, no. Good album, no. Great album YES.
In the end, if you never heard of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, you really need to look them up. Even better, go to a show. They are my inspiration writing wise and how to run a band. They my heroes.

Blogging Again

Hello all. Most of you don't know me, or have ever read a blog of mine. In fact, it has been a few years since I have blogged. After missing the creative outlet... I have returned to the forum. With that said, this first post is short and sweet.
The title that I have chosen for this blog is Scratching At The Surface. It is taken from Glen Hansard's Say It To Me Now. A beautiful piece of "noise" that is searching for answers. The line is; "Scratching at the surface now, I'm trying hard to work it out." Very profound. And, a very short song. His best version is from the Once Soundtrack where it is just him and a acoustic guitar.
Well, enough for now. Stay tuned for more "random-ness".
